We wish the best of luck for our pioneer AP French Language and Culture students with the upcoming May examinations. SLS has been offering French for three years as part of an honors program for students with outstanding academic and linguistic aptitude. Ms. Caridad Aliaga is teaching the French courses, which incorporate a hands-on approach through a variety of written and oral activities and encourage students to plunge into the language through conversations, oral presentations, group activities, etc…. The following interview organized in a collaborative effort between Ms. Aliaga and her French students from all levels is an example of such approach. Enjoy it.

Poetry has taken over Shoreless Lake School!

Students from 5th and 9th grades have interpreted some famous poems of Spanish Literature.

Miguel Alarcón, our 5th grade student, impersonating a pirate, recited for us one of the most well known poems of the famous 19th century poet José de Espronceda: La Canción del Pirata.

The students from 9th grade surprised us with quite a performance of a poem selected from one of the most impressive and celebrated books of World Literature,  El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha.

These presentations were organised by Ms. Daniela (Spanish Language teacher), Ms. Francisca (5th grade teacher), and Ms. Caridad (French Language teacher).

Congratulations to both teachers and students for all your effort, and for such a remarkable presentation!
