David Ledgar was  a teacher in the Physical Education department of Shoreless Lake School. He was a very keen sportsman and excelled in several disciplines. He was a cyclist, on one occasion cycling from the west of Ireland, across England, Holland, Belgium, France and then to Spain in a month and frequently did rides throughout the whole of Spain and did cycling pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela  and Fatima. He also hiked and walked up in the high mountains of Spain and the UK.  However his great love was cross country running and he took part in many races.

In order to remember him, and the work and devotion he gave to this school, it has been decided to introduce the David Ledgar Cup. This Cup will be awarded to the winner of our cross country races which take place twice a term. This Cup will be in addition to the Michael Clark Trophy and will be for individual achievement compared to team performance.
